Alpaca Makeovers

Shearing day was not as grand as I expected. I really hoped I had hired some great shearers......but not so much. The boys look pretty funny! And their blankets have way too many second and third cuts in them to be fantastic. But they feel much better and I will still find use for all the fiber! Next year I will try to piggy back on a large farms shearing day to get some professionals!

Summer School

This is our summer school crew minus one. We usually have 5 but Lily could not make this field trip. We had a great time at the capitol building discussing state government and laws. These kids are all so great and so very eager to learn. We are having such fun!

Weekend with the cousins!

Portrait

Kate is really enjoying drawing people right now. I love that the eye circles always start at the bottom so the people seem as though they are always looking down. This is one she made of Dave and I this morning. I had no idea I was looking so good these days! All the running with the dogs is paying off!

Duckling Rescue Operation

The girls are very excited to have a new batch of orphaned baby mallards at our house. A neighbor called that found them in her backyard.  Leah and Kate were more than happy to take over the role as their mother until they can fly away and be on their own.

Shearing.....almost

Saturday was supposed to be shearing day for the boys. I guess the shearing team had quite a time at the farm before ours and were just not able to get to us that day. We are first on the list next Saturday. While we wait here are some shots of our fluffy boys. Stanley is just like a giant teddy bear

Broccoli and Cauliflower

We had so much cauliflower and broccoli this year. The broccoli I made into soup last week using this recipe http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/vegan-cream-of-broccoli-soup.html. It is so very good and we have about 15 freezer meals from it now in the deep freeze. Today I made this recipe with the cauliflower http://www.foodiewithfamily.com/creamy-garlic-cauliflower-sauce/. WOW!!! I just had some over pasta and it is fantastic! It should make  about 15 more meals worth of sauce. Just getting started with the preserving for the year and off to a good one!
