Sweetness

Enjoying a horse that belonged to Aunt Carrie. Kate has no fear and will climb on and off all by herself. 

A few times in the last week I have caught these two reading together.  So super sweet!

Rockstar

Leah has decided that sunglasses are the thing to wear when performing. Here is a bit of "The Girl From Ipanema" in portuguese. It hard to get her to sing the whole song without interruption.....it's a long song.

Banana

Kate is talking up a storm these days. Way too many words to list. She tries to repeat much of what we say.  This is my favorite word she says. I just can't get enough!

I love how she writes her name. SOOOOO super cute!

Leah filled up her first book chart at school a few weeks ago. It took her only 4 months to do this! now she is almost half finished with the next one. 

Spagetti night

Hanging out at Station Park. She always has a bruise on her head. Kate has no fear it seems and is really all over the place!

Biking

It has been one of the most fair-weatherd springs I can remember. The girls and I have really enjoyed getting out with the bike and trailer. They are getting a bit heavy with a combine weight of over 60 pounds so it is a great workout for me! We really enjoy going to the library, the grocery store, and Farmington Pond. I will really miss this when the temps get too hot!

Dude

This is an odd post. I have never cared much about cars, or what car I drive, but this car....WOW! I love it! Leah named him "Dude". We all love him. I would have chosen a different color it it were an option but whatever. So I may remember my first car love I give you our Toyota Prius.....

Yard Happenings

As usual, it has been a busy year in the yard. I wanted to post a few pictures so years from now we can remember what things were. Here goes....some VERY unedited photos.

Planting asparagus.

This is how Dave looks EVERY day. Straw hat, white t-shirt, work gloves, and work shorts. From dawn til dusk.

The goats new "summer home". Thanks so much Mary and Joel for helping out on this one! They now have shade for  the whole day AND I get to plant corn in their "winter home". Win win! This was my mothers day gift!

We put a "trailing rail" up across the top. It seems the goats like their "winter home " so much they REALLY wanted to jump out and get back to it. They have settled in now and are loving it. Time to take the rail down.

New shade over the deck and sandbox. We ended up using banner material (Dave does work at a sign shop) instead of shade cloth. the shade cloth did not block as much of the light as we hoped. These will do great until the tree you see grows a bit more. Again thanks Mary and Joel for post installation help. 

This is the third year for the grape vines. It looks to be a good one! Yay for grape juice this winter!

As usual the garden is producing more than we can keep up with. I hope when the kids a re a bit older I will get better at preserving things.....I should be freezing tons of broccoli right now!

The new corn garden. I can't wait to see how this turns out. The soil was SO incredible after Dave tilled it. Years of goat poop in it. So excited! The goats will live here all of fall, winter, and spring. Then they will move over when it's planting time.

This "temporary"(been there for years) path will be gone soon to be replaced by the  brick path.

The big construction zone. Many more grow boxes to come.

We planted 12 more fruit trees this year. I think all apple. This brings the fruit tree total to 27ish. This is a bad photo but I wanted to remember how small they were. They grow so fast! All these trees also had to have water run to them. The whole yard is now on automated sprinklers!!!!! YAY!!!!!! But poor Dave's back!

The first two grow boxes in the construction zone. We plated asparagus in the first one. It seems to be doing well so far. It is a commitment, we will not harvest for two years while it gets well established. As you can see in the background, no deck yet. This may be a fall project.
